How to conduct Workplace Impairment Testing
A short course designed to benefit senior and middle managers and designated supervisors in the correct administration of the Workplace Impairment Test, when a company’s drug and alcohol policy may need to be used.
These tests are based upon the road side Field Impairment Tests, used by the police service. The WIT programme covers an extra test not used by the police service.
This non-invasive test will allow a designated employee to determine whether a person is fit to work and is particularly relevant for safety critical organisations.
To provide the designated employees with the skills and knowledge to adequately assess drug
intoxication by the use of the Workplace Impairment Test to determine whether an employee is impaired to work.
At the end of the session the student will be better able to: –
1. Describe and correctly administer the field impairment tests
2. Provide a correct inference on the results of the test through full and accurate contemporaneous records
3. Generalise on the relevant legislation and practices
